Once Brent Sweet ran a pretty cool site in the abaynews.com domain for the Goose Bay Radar Runs. I actually helped him with it and it featured a bunch of crazy local characters that would meet up every Sunday and see to see how fast they could get their sleds to go on the ice down to Goose Bay. Guys like Brent, Stanley Parker, Norm Hormer, Freddy Kring, etc etc, etc..

Anyway, it's been a long time coming but the Goose Bay Radar Runs are back on abaynews.com.

Now way back then speeds in the 140's/150's we're about all I remember seeing, but apparently times have changed. Nate Sourwine took this awesome video yesterday of Stanley Parker's sled going 176.1 MPH on Radar !! A 2005 Yamaha RX-1 with a Turbo. (a bender rear mount turbo) Andy Hanni was driving the sled for Stanley.
