Congratulations go out to my buddy Eric Scordo who on Saturday (4/29/2017) caught himself a record breaking NY State Channel Catfish. It has officially been measured at 35.25 pounds 40inches. The previous record was 32.12 pounds. The fish was caught in Lake Ontario near Chamount.

Watch the video below..

Eric told me that he has waited his whole life for something like this. He also said that he has done everything he can to ensure that the fish would live and be put back into the water to grow into an even bigger monster.

After being officially weighed the fish was put into a 500 Gallon holding tank at Chaumont Marina until a DEC Officer Biologist arrived and confirmed the species.  Once that was done the fish was released alive and well at 1pm today. The Biologist said it was a female approximately 25 to 30 years old.,

Eric is btw a licensed Charter Captain now so if you want to catch a monster too get ahold of him on his Facebook Page.
