"Betty J. Truesdell, 88, of St. Lawrence Park Rd, Alexandria Bay died Thursday morning at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.

Betty was born on September 27, 1927 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of Wesson and Emma Jacobson Paplow. She graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central School in Cassadaga, NY.

She married Joseph G. Truesdell in Jamestown, NY on November 18, 1950. He passed away on December 23, 2009.

Betty worked as the Head of Circulation for the Jamestown Port Journal, was a co-owner of Joe’s Texaco Gas Station in Alexandria Bay and was a Hostess for many years at Bonnie Castle Resort and Pine Tree Resort. She was a member of the Clayton Bowling League, the Reformed Church of the 1000 Isles, and the Alexandria Bay Senior Citizens. Betty was a caring and beautiful person inside and out and she should be remembered as a free spirit, the title of her email address. She enjoyed spending time with her family, the sun, traveling, cross country skiing, bowling and the river.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Gayle Truesdell, her daughter Joleta Truesdell, and three grandsons, Christopher Williams, Bobby Joe Williams and Dustin Truesdell, three nieces a nephew, Cynthia Scarobrough, Rebecca Conroe, Diana Kuehn, Frankie Olmstead and a favorite niece Bonnie Jean. A sister, Margie Olmstead, predeceased her.

Calling hours will be held at Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay, from 2-4 and 7-9 on Monday, September 26th. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Costello Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff McIlrath officiating. Burial will follow at Barnes Settlement Cemetery."
