Life Jacket Requirement Reminder for New York State

A reminder from the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Commander Gary Kocher of Alexandria Bay about the new Boating Safety Law in New York State. The new law that went into effect a few years ago state’s : “All people aboard a pleasure vessel less than 21 feet in length while underway from November 1st to May 1st must wear a life preserver (life jacket)”. This law was put into effect to help save more lives because of the dangers of hypothermia. Even if you vessel is larger than 21 feet you should still wear a life preserver. So please obey this law and help save lives, especially your own.
