This is just CRAZY.. CRAZY.. CRAZY !!

In a nutshell the village of Alexandria Bay had about 2.3 million dollars in various accounts back in May 31st, 2011. Apparently about half of which they didn't even know they had.. they then charged the taxpayers almost a million in taxes even though they already had 92% of the money they needed for the upcoming year..

Auditors said..

" the Village has not kept proper accounting records for at least five years. This basic deficiency resulted in an ineffective budgeting process, a lack of critical financial information for the Board, and an excess of accumulated cash on deposit which led to the levy of unnecessary taxes"
