1st off.. I want to say that Cecil was a very good friend to me. I spent a lot of time hanging out with him. He was a fixture at my family get-togethers for 10-12 years at least. He was essentially part of the family and I was very much looking forward to seeing him again this summer. A trip here by train was planned. Unfortunately I didn't get that chance to see him again, at least not in life. Sigh..

2nd off.. I am going to say that this is not the usual sort of picture you show in an obituary type scenario, but trust me old Cecil would not have minded and well, I didn't have a lot of pictures available to use and this picture was actually from a photo shoot Cecil did. The photo was used in some sort of magazine ad.

3rdly.. I would like to tell you some things about Cecil you may not have known.. Cecil was an artist who enjoyed painting.. Cecil was at one time a pro wrestler called "The Great Unmerciful Lucifer". Cecil told me he had trunks, boots, and a costume. Now, in contrast to his "Great Lucifer" days Cecil was actually a minister for about 10 years. But really, most of you probably know Cecil best as a bouncer.. he bounced from the Cuse to The Bay and probably a lot of other places. He frequently mentioned getting in the Guiness Book of World records for his long bouncing career. Cecil was actually brought to the Bay by Charlie Roman and Dan Bosco back in the C.P. Roman's days and he loved the river so much that he came back as often as possible and eventually started living here. At one time I believe he even lived on his boat. Cecil worked for Pepsi for quite a long time.. Cecil was also the one of the best draft beer line cleaners in the area. He had accounts all over Syracuse and the surrounding areas. I'd also like to mention that Cecil was very generous.. he would make every effort to pay for dinner or lunch despite who asked who and despite his financial situation. In addition to all of that Cecil sometimes made for a good Santa Clause:).

Bottom line.. I will miss Cecil. I'll even miss all the times I helped him move countless heavy boxes of stuff out of his apartments into different apartments or into storage :).

Anyway, we are planning a celebration of his life sometime this summer right here in Alexandria Bay. When I know more I will post it on the site. In the meantime please leave your thoughts and stories about Cecil Below in the comments.
