We have a crisis of sorts going on right now in Alexandria Bay.

The foundation of the Upper James Street Dock is in ruins and the entire dock has been declared unsafe until further notice.

As most of you realize Alexandria Bay is a huge boating destination so this is a pretty big deal. It could destroy downtown commerce and further alienate boaters that are constantly given the impression that they are not wanted here.

"This is in my opinion largely due to having a Mayor and Village Board over the last few years that have neglected, mismanaged, and ignored one of the most important places in our village, the main dock.."

So, can the village come up with the money and the permits neccessary to get the dock back in shape before this year's boating season?

Watch the video I took yesterday where I walk the length of the dock. You really can't get a feel for how bad this actually is until you see it.

The video below has been viewed over 1200 times..

The village is in such deep 'doo doo' over this that it was necessary to have a meeting on friday at the docks with Senator Aubertine, Assemblywoman Russell, and North Coast Engineers to discuss things.

For much coverage and pictures of that head on over to the Abay Circus site..
